Spongebob Squarepants - Sponge out of Water - concept art

This was the first design of Plank-Ton, as well as the first full color rendered design of the Crabby Patty food truck/ Pirate Ship. The final of Plank-Ton was very close, it was improved with some freckles and some slight hue shifts in his skin. The boots and pants/Belt shifted in color in the final design too, but this is darn close- much closer than usual for an early painting. This painting was used to pitch the idea of the film and get a green light from the studio to go ahead with the project.

The sketches are pencil and photoshop, and the painting is painted in Photoshop with some elements in Maya. The hills and beach are photo plates, as well as the pirate, which is me!
